washington state paint horse club

Washington State Paint Horse Club (WSPHC) is the oldest Paint Horse club in Washington, tracing back to May 4, 1968 when it held its first meeting through the founding efforts of Karen Ulvestad, Ann McMahan, Joan Haggett, Sharon Mack and Howard and Maxine Yeager.

WSPHC put on its first-ever, APHA-approved Paint Horse Show, a one-day competition, in August 1969 in Puyallup, WA. The show, the WSPHC Paint Royal, moved to The Trails in Olympia the following year, boasting an “A” show rating. WSPHC’s annual breed show eventually became known as the Star Spangled Classic and has since grown to be the biggest APHA show in Washington. It’s currently held in July at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA.

As a club, we gather monthly for social/dinner hours and youth activities followed by a general membership meeting. We also enjoy an annual club BBQ and “Christmas In November”, popular events have been happening annually for more than 15 years. We participate in many special community service activities throughout the year – such as supporting the Fisher House at Ft. Lewis, the homeless in Olympia, the Humane Society, and putting on clinics for local 4-H clubs and WAHSET teams, among many other worthwhile causes.
